Sanuk Welcomes Pro Surfer Malia Manuel
Christmas comes early for Sanuk, as we unwrap the one thing on our wish-list: welcoming professional surfer Malia Manuel to our happy ohana. Surprise!!
Born and raised on the beautiful beaches of Kauai, Malia began surfing at the tender age of two and has been highly influenced by her Hawaiian heritage both in and out of the water. In 2008, at 14 years old, she burst on to the competitive surfing scene, becoming the youngest ever female or male to win the US Open of Surfing. In 2012, Malia took home top honors as the ASP Women’s Rookie of the Year. Malia, now 20, is one of 17 women competing on the ASP Women’s World Tour. In addition to Sanuk, she currently rides for O’Neill, VonZipper, and Mayhem Surfboards and is recognized as one the sport’s most progressive and stylish stars. With the upcoming 2014 season, it’s no secret Malia has her sights firmly set on winning the world title.
When she’s not going toe-to-toe with the pro-surfing’s finest, Malia can be found pursuing her own personal paths to happiness. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, exploring the great outdoors or going to yoga, it’s nearly impossible to see her without a smile on her face. Now it’s time to put some spring in her step…
“Sanuk has always been a brand that I admired and wanted to be a part of because of their originality and energy,” says Miss Malia. “They’re a fun brand and I couldn’t be happier to be joining the Sanuk family and I am looking forward to the experiences we will share together. ”
“We’re incredibly stoked to welcome Malia to our family. Malia will provide an authentic female touch to Sanuk and she exemplifies “Smile… Pass It On!” proclaims Sanuk’s Tommy Campagne.
Oh, and did we mention she rips?
